The weather has been so hit or miss lately that I wasn’t sure what to expect for Matt & Ayla’s e-session. The sky was gloomy grey and it even smelled like rain as we walked along the paths at Thetis Lake. You know that smell when the rain is coming? Growing up on the west coast it’s almost a comforting scent. It is one of my favourite smells like after the first rainfall after days or weeks without rain.
We walked through the trails stopping here and there to admire the Arbutus trees and the few geese that swam by. We stopped to capture photos and memories here and there enjoying our walk along the way.
Matt and Ayla are so comfortable with each other. When I asked them to get cozy together Ayla would curl right into Matt as he opened his arms to her like it was “her spot”. Their effortless ability to naturally fall right into a pose was a complete treat. And despite the gloomy grey skies and drip drops of rain we captured their love in one of their favourite places. How perfect is that ?
I look forward to shooting these two on a very special day in their lives in June, and I can’t wait !

You two make a lovely couple! 🙂
I love the foreground in these shots – it adds another element to them!
I love the first picture. It looks like they are the centre of the Earth, surrounded by beauty. Nature and humans in harmony.
Glad you like them! I felt a bit voyeuristic shooting through the leaves and bushes 😉 But I like the effect too 🙂
