Stylish Headshot Session | Leanne McKeachie Design

I have been LOVING working with so many fabulous female business owners lately. I am striving to create stylish headshots for them to help enhance the brand of their business and online presence by showcasing their wonderful personalities. Saying bye bye to boring and hello to gorgeous, fresh, bright and beautiful.

I was fortunate enough to get the chance to work with the incredibly talented Leanne, of Leanne McKeachie Design. Holy moly does this lady have amazing style. This is what Leanne had to say about her vision …

“Design is largely about problem solving. I love the thrill in the ‘ah-ha’ moment when I’m working through a design and the solution suddenly becomes clear. The design is complete when there are no more problems to be solved. Seeing my clients adoring their homes and seeing their eyes sparkle as they show it off is definitely what fuels my passion for design.” -Leanne

You can check out her latest ad in the Homes issue of YAM Magazine … page 41. She chose one of my favourite images from our session too! I think it looked so fabulous in the ad.

Becca & Matty | Married

*sigh*

Where do I even begin? It started with a wonderful coffee date, and two minutes into our conversation I was screaming PICK ME PICK ME PICK … in my head of course. I knew that I wanted to be the one to capture their wedding SO badly. Our styles, tastes, inspiration, vision for a lovely wedding were so in sync.

Their sweet personalities and easy-going nature put me at complete ease. Their love for each other was apparent in every hand squeeze, subtle glance, and casual laughter.

PICK ME PICK ME PICK ME !!! And I am SO happy they did 🙂

Becca and Matty – it has been my pleasure getting to know you over the past two years and I am so lucky to not only call you amazing clients, but fabulous friends.

Kim this is stunning!!!!

Maternity sessions are quickly becoming one of my favourite things to photograph. I love the simplicity of this shoot. Just a mama and her babe and nothing but spectacular west coast scenery behind her. I am so lucky to call this glowing mama one of my friends too which made this shoot extra special.

Now honestly, is she not one of the prettiest pregnant mamas you have ever seen ?!!

This natural beauty just shined during her session! She seemed so comfortable in front of the camera, even though she said she was a bit nervous. You can’t tell though! I adored her confidence and her easy-going nature, and positive outlook on life. I really hope to get to work with this sweetie again in the future!

So beautiful, Kim.

Weddingbells Magazine Top 25 Most Inspiring Wedding Photographers for 2013

I squealed, loud enough that Hayden looked up at me almost frightened wondering why mommy was shrieking and literally jumping up and down around the room. Then he just thought it was funny. It was the email that I had so nervously been waiting for. I knew that on Jan 21st, Weddingbells Magazine was going to announce their Top 25 Most Inspiring Wedding Photographers for 2013. I had been so incredibly honoured to be chosen for 2012, and honestly was so shocked to receive it the first time, that I wondered what even sort of remote chance I had for being recognized two years in a row. Well, they chose me !!! And I danced and jumped and laughed and hugged and cried.

I think that many professional photographers are so critical of their work and constantly see only the ‘flaws’ and rarely step back to acknowledge how far we have come and give ourself that little pat on the back. There have been a few defining moments for me in my career so far where validation from such an incredible company has given me that moment to stop and think back to where I began. This was one of those moments.

Receiving my first digital camera when I graduated university as a gift from Darren and my mom.  Not long after Darren and I went off for a 3 month adventure to Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, where we spent several nights staying up late chatting about my dreams of being a photographer. I didn’t know how it would happen. I just knew it would.

As I practiced and practiced and slowly built a business up bit by bit, I was able to leave my ‘safe’ job with the government to pursue something that made my heart happy.

Weddingbells had these amazing sweet words to say about me and my work …

“Why we love her: There’s an undeniable air of romance in Kim Kalyn’s wedding photography. We adore the way she plays with light to expertly showcase each couple and their venue and her bright personality also makes her a pleasure to work with.”

I am humbled and truly grateful. THANK YOU Weddingbells – I am so incredibly honoured.
