Favourite Things Friday

It’s the smell of the dirt. Hair in a ponytail. Garden gloves on. Rubber boots keeping my feet warm and dry. It’s seeing an area transformed after a good weeding. It’s the feeling of accomplishment while watching my garden grow. Just a few of the reasons as to why I LOVE to garden. I am beyond excited to be starting a farm stand this year with my mom. It truly is the simple things that make me happiest.

Here are a few things that are starting to sprout up around the garden.

Hydrangeas

Rhodos

More Hydrangea buds

Violets

Rose bud

Christmas Rose

Peony bud … and I am not sure ๐Ÿ˜‰

Rhubarb

Blueberry Bush

Oooh I can’t remember what this was … Clematis bud ???

Favourite Things Friday …. Oops Sunday

Eeek, where do the weeks go ?! Honestly, I would have sworn it was Tuesday. But nope, I was way off and missed my favourite things Friday post. So here I am making up for it on Sunday with two of my favourite things on my desk right now. And a little something to brighten your day.

Haley & Jordan {Expecting}

It is always the biggest compliment when a client truly believes in your work, shares your business with their friends and family and chooses you to capture their life’s most important moments. Haley and Jordan are just that. I have been working with them since their wedding in 2009 and have had the pleasure of getting to know not just them, but their family and have been fortunate to have these lovely people in front of my camera numerous times. In fact, I am shooting Haley’s sister Melia’s wedding on Saturday! Hi Melia ย ๐Ÿ™‚ ย I CAN’T WAIT !!!

They are beautiful people both inside and out. And I think there is absolutely no doubt that their little babe will be a stunnner!

Big hugs to you both xo Can’t wait to meet (and photograph!) your little sweetie!

Favourite Things Friday

What came first the chicken or the egg? Well in this case, it’s the egg.

Now for those of you who have heard my story about getting attacked by one of my mom’s roosters a few years ago (I refer to the attack in this post too) you might have been surprised to see that chickens have made it as one of my favourite things friday posts. Well the trauma must have passed because I do love chickens and I especially love having their farm fresh eggs. It doesn’t get more local than right next door. You see Darren and I moved this past October to a lovely piece of property that happens to be neighbouring my mom and dad’s property and it is AWESOME. I spent a number of years living at their property growing up and have always been so in love with it. So when the opportunity came to buy something right in that same area we thought ‘why not?!’ You never know unless you try right ??

Hayden and I quite often wander over to their house in the mornings to feed the chickens, check for eggs and also throw a few apples or alfalfa cubes over the fence for their two sheep.

As I start to plant my vegetable garden I am so excited that Hayden will get to grow up having such a healthy perspective on local produce and the importance of knowing where your food comes from. Food Inc anyone ?!

I got this bowl in the Grand Bizarre in Istanbul. Isn’t it gorgeous ?!

This is Mrs. Speckles. She’s my mom’s favourite.

This is not the most flattering picture of me, but I still love it. Please keep in mind it was early and I am majorly sleep deprived ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hayden’s first time holding an egg!

He’s laughing because the egg didn’t last long ๐Ÿ˜‰
