9 Months

I waited nine almost 10 months for you to arrive and now Hayden on Christmas Day you turned nine months. Holding you in my arms for your first Christmas is the best present I could ever wish for.

I saw a shoot like this on Pinterest by Caroline Tran and was inspired to create something similar. Darren hovered over Hayden to intercept any lights going into the mouth 😉

Weddingbells Spring / Summer 2012

I often wondered what it would feel like. As I nervously scanned the rack looking for the latest issue of Weddingbells my heart started racing. There it was. I eagerly flipped to page 98, Hayden squealed in the shopping cart like he was sharing the excitement. I smiled. This moment has been a dream of mine since I started my journey with photography almost 5 years ago. In February will be my two year anniversary of shooting full-time. And seeing my work in print, published in this prominent bridal magazine, makes me pinch myself….hard.

I am so lucky to have amazing couple like Elaine and Chris who put so much thought and effort into creating the perfect wedding for them. This wedding was a dream to photograph not only because of this incredible couple but also because of these fabulous vendors: Rook and Rose Floral Boutique, Twisted Sifters, Blush Bridal Boutique, Equinox Catering and Affinity Guesthouse.

What away to finish the year. I remember writing the words on my business goals for 2011 and thinking to myself that this one “Be published in a prominent wedding magazine” seemed so far out of reach. Now for 2012 I am inspired and I must keep in mind my favourite quote from the movie Inception “don’t be afraid to dream a little bigger darling”.

I also wish to congratulate Rosie who is an AMAZING photographer whom I truly admire who was also published in this same issue. You can check out her beautiful work here.

Expecting {Matthew} …. He’s here !

So wow, I have been a bit of a bad blogger. Jess, Brandon and Everly did a maternity (slash) family session with me back and July and I realized that I STILL haven’t blogged it. Since we have already done their family session with Matthew I figured it was long overdue to post this session. So this post with be a combo and feature both their maternity and newborn sessions in one, FUN 🙂

It is always so special to be asked to photograph another photographer and I am so honoured that I have had the opportunity to work with Jess and her family on so many special occasions. You can check out her fabulous site here.

He’s here !!

A passerby offered to help with some smiles 🙂

Best photo ever ?!

Overhauled !!

EVERY.SINGLE.IMAGE gone. Poof. Deleted from my website. Don’t worry, it was on purpose! Updating the images on my website was waaaaaay overdue. In fact, it had been on my ‘to-do’ list for honestly at least 10 months. So please check it out and let me know what you think. http://www.kimkalynphotography.com/

And because this entry wouldn’t be complete without a picture, here is one of Hayden’s first visit with Santa. Don’t let the serious face fool you, there were tears and plenty of them once he realized who was holding him.
