7 Months

I watched a documentary called the Business of Being Born last night. Wow. What an amazing film. As they describe it is a “provocative and entertaining exploration of the modern maternity care system.” Watching the film made me think A) how messed up and backwards the medicalization of the birth process has truly become and B) I want to have another baby NOW! Don’t tell Darren 😉 The effects of sleep deprivation are still running strong in our family and until that is a distant memory I don’t think baby number 2 will be coming along any time soon 😉

Even though the film focuses on the United States health care system around birth, I found there were many parallels to what I believe many women go through here. I was so happy that I chose to use a midwife and doula for Hayden’s birth and I know I will go that route again when we decide to have another babe.

Speaking of our little man, guess who turns 7 months old today ?!  Our little pumpkin 🙂

Awww guys, do you know it smells like poop here? And I swear it isn’t me!

Had to try one with the self-timer 🙂

Melt my heart.

Pumpkin patch outtake …. no babies were hurt in the making of this image.

What a beautiful little guy!
I saw that doc too. Shocking. Yes, it depicts an American system, so I wonder how similar or different is the Canadian philosophy? I used a midwife and a doula as well, (and am thankful for it) so I’m not sure I truly experienced the overarching reality of birth in our system.
Have you seen the “Babies” documentary? I’d HIGHLY recommend it.

Liz & Josh {Married} Part II

Their little dog Theo led the way down the aisle, bowtie and all.  It was quite possibly the cutest thing ever!  I love it when people incorporate their pups as part of their wedding and seeing them dressed up just melts me every time.  These two LOVE LOVE LOVE their baby pooch and it truly was so sweet that he could be apart of their day.

Now on to part two !!

Not a bad view hey ?!

What a wonderful wedding, Kim! Beautiful couple and the little pup is cute!

Liz & Josh {Married} Part I

If I ever had a couple trying to decide if a “First Look” was right for them and unsure if whether it would take away from the emotions of seeing each other walk down the aisle I would happily direct them to Liz and Josh’s first look images. I have been blessed to witness five “first looks” this wedding season. All of them have all been incredible in their own way, but the emotions that came over these two as they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day moved me beyond words.

Liz and Josh celebrated their wedding at the fabulous Bear Mountain Resort. With it’s stunning views, beautiful architecture and lovely landscaping this venue was perfect for their amazing wedding.

I will share more in Part II as I couldn’t narrow down all the images for just one post. So stayed tuned for lots more to come.

Not only are these two blessed with some darn good genes, but they are just as sweet to match. Liz and Josh you made my job easy and I was so happy to be apart of your day.

Liz was fortunate to wear some AMAZING jewelry.  Yes, it’s real !!

Thanks to the fabulous ladies at Poppies Floral Art for the beautiful flowers.

Stunning! Great job Kim!

Claire & Ryan {Married}

Wow, this way overdue.  So overdue in fact that there is now EGGNOG in the grocery stores!  It’s not even Thanksgiving yet! Darren is one of those people who has to buy eggnog the second it hits stores. I on the other hand prefer to wait until the Christmas season is upon us. I don’t like the novelty to wear off before December even hits.  Now I am not saying that because it is now in our fridge that I am going to refrain from drinking it. I would hate for it to go bad 😉

I know that Claire and Ryan had a challenging year with many obstacles, upsets and life changes thrown their way.  Now as always in life it is not often what happens to you, but how you react to such events that shape who you truly are. Claire and Ryan chose to focus on the positive and their wedding truly reflected that.  It was a gorgeous intimate ceremony at the beautiful Glendale Gardens. This sentimental location was the perfect spot for their lovely garden wedding.

I hope you enjoy the images.

I have loved seeing all the photos from Claire and Ryan’s wedding. Claire has been one of my best friends for years and even though I’m currently 7000 kms away, these photos made me feel like I was there! Just beautiful…

Carol you are so truly welcome. I am so happy you love that image as it was one of my favourites from their day.

Thank you Kim, for such beautiful photos of Claire and Ryan’s wedding day. I think you captured their personalities very well. I love how happy Claire looks and no one deserves it more than she and Ryan. Thank you too for the photo of Ian and I holding hands, that’s the one that brings tears every time I look at it.
