I have to start off this post by saying that wasps are DEFINITELY not one of my favourite things. I got stung today for the first time in years and wowzers I forgot how much those little monsters hurt. OUCH !
Now on to something much more enjoyable, and the topic of my post today, Amy Seeley. For those of you who haven’t heard of her, she is an amazingly talented artist who makes beautiful beautiful music. I often spend my days editing to her wonderful tunes and recommend you check out a song or two that are available for a listen on her website, here. Personally, Gravel Lines, Catalinas, and Look Up, Look Out are my favourites.
Enjoy !
ahh sorry about the wasp! and thanks for the great music recommendation! always looking for new tunes, especially ones I can edit too 🙂
Ok this post is kind of going to be ridiculously long. So grab a cup of your favourite tea, or may hot chocolate for this chilly day, and maybe even a cozy blanket and settle in for a good long post.
Gemma and Steve were a treat to photograph. They are the sweetest couple. I love how when the two of them are together it is like no one else is around. There is true love in their eyes and it is so heart warming to see.
They put so much effort and attention to detail into their day. From a beautiful hotel room at the Inn at the Laurel Point to get ready in, gorgeous wedding accessories to shoot, stunning ceremony location (the incredible St. Anne’s Academy) and time for multiple shoot locations, I was in heaven.
I think it is the most relaxing start to a bride’s day to have the hair and make-up come to her. And that is exactly what Gemma did. The fabulous Joanne McPherson was responsible for Gemma’s make-up perfection and the lovely Keri Brenton, worked her magic on their beautiful hair.
After the wonderful ceremony at St. Anne’s, Steve and Gemma had factored in enough photo time for us to venture to 3 different locations for their formal photos, and I have to say that I love the variety! We started with the lovely grounds at St. Anne’s, then headed to China Town for some fun vibrant shots and then off to the stunning Art Gallery of Greater Victoria for a completely unique look. A huge THANK YOU to the wonderful staff there who were completely accommodating with us taking over the gallery for a little while. I have so many favourites from their day and I just can’t post them all, but I hope you enjoy what you see.
If you missed Part I of their photos you can view them here. I’d love to hear from you! So feel free to leave me a comment below 🙂
This fun shot above was inspired by my own wedding photography by Rebecca Wellman and Michelle Loewen

Darren and I made our way into Turkey via a ferry from Samos, Greece to Kusadasi, Turkey. When we arrived we spent the day getting settled and enjoying the market. We plunked down for a meal and planned our excursion to Ephesus. Ephesus is a major historical site and was on our must-see list in Turkey. If you want to read more on the history of Ephesus, click here.
View from our room.
I have such a desire to get travelling again lately and this makes it real bad!
the b+w’s really make me notice the beautiful details. so cool.
As you might imagine, being a photographer, some of the things I treasure most in my life are photographs. I feel so strongly about the value of capturing one’s story, their history. I love and am inspired by the impact an image can have and the comfort it can bring for years to come, sometimes generations. It is a powerful thing.
I wanted to share some of my most treasured images of Darren and I, taken by the UBER talented and dear friends of mine, Amy and Richard McDowell of Red Leaf Studios.
Happy Friday !!

These photos are stunning Kim!! You look gorgeous!!
Thanks guys *blush* ! Great question Sherry. They stood on a ladder for a lot of the shots, and they shoot with the 35mm a fair bit, plus Richard is really tall 😉
