Favourite Things Friday

I was sitting on my back deck soaking in the sun (wearing sunscreen of course!) enjoying a blue freezie and trying to decide what I should post for this weeks Favourite Things.  There was the cute new dress I have my eye on at Ruche, or the soft serve ice cream at the Beacon Drive Inn, or my iPhone apps I couldn’t live without.  Even though I could write a post on any of those, I had the strong urge to give into my brownie craving and post my favourite brownie recipe in the world.

Those of you who have not heard of the Smitten Kitchen food blog MUST check it out.  However, I must warn you that you may end up spending hours crusing Deb’s blog and drooling over her amazing creations.  This blog inspires me to cook and create in the kitchen.  I may even go so far to say that I may have a slight obsession with this site.  I am a food blog addict.  Admission is the first step, right ?!

So if you love cooking or baking I guarantee you will love her site.  I first made these brownies about six months ago.  I made them 3 times in that first week.  I promise I didn’t eat them all myself.  But I could have!  They are so delish.  They are the perfect combination of moist and chewy and will satisfy that chocolate craving in a heartbeat.  I have brought them to parties and baked them as thank you gifts and they are always a huge hit.  So if you want to make THE BEST brownies please click this link to chocolate heaven.

You will not be disappointed !!

And because every post is better with a picture.  Her is a quick teaser for Mel and Dave of their super cute little man, Linden.  Seriously, how cute is this ?!

Balloons, bubbles and blue skies

I was so happy when Jadine contacted me for another family photo session.  I have had the pleasure of watching her adorable kiddies grow, and documenting another year of their amazing family was such a treat.  I can’t believe how much they have changed.  Even their personalities are so different now!  Jarret talking away and taking the lead.  Teyha showing us her sassy attitude and strutting her stuff.  I couldn’t believe it.  Wow, the changes in one year are really incredible.

Jadine went all out planning for their session and it really paid off.  She was so organized!  The outfits were SO super cute (just look at Teyha’s pearls, diva sunglasses and flower headband!) and she brought plenty of fun props to keep her little ones playing and having fun.

Thank you guys for asking me to capture these special images for you.  I am always honoured.

Travel Snaps Tuesday

So here it is.  My first instalment of “Travel Snaps Tuesday”.  These shots are from our honeymoon.  Darren and I ventured to Greece and Turkey this past May for our incredible honeymoon.  I will be starting these snaps from the beginning.  I like order 😉  So it begins in Greece.  Athens to be exact.

Greece is a magical place and it was everything I hoped for.  We spent our days exploring ruins.  Sipping lattes or white wine while nibbling on Baklava and enjoying the hustle and bustle of the Plaka and Montastraki districts, while in the shadow of the Parthenon.  Amazing.

Getting there was a dream come true.  I know I will go back.

In the airport in Brussels.  YUM!

Staying at our friend Katya’s place right in the most beautiful suburb in Athens.

Our first glimpse of the Parthenon.  Can you see it ??

JenelleJuly 22, 2010 - 10:27 am

After seeing these I really can’t wait to travel here someday, your photos are amazing, love them all and that you shared so many…..can’t wait for Tuesdays 😉 looks like an incredible travel adventure!

A Very Special Anniversary

Today is an such an amazing day.  Today Darren and I celebrate our 10th year anniversary together and our first year wedding anniversary.  To celebrate we spent last night at the Brentwood Bay Lodge, which was an amazing wedding gift from my brother-in-law, Geoff.  THANKS GEOFF !!  And thank you to the sales manager there, Jackie May, for the lovely bottle of champagne!  We soaked up some serious rays on our beautiful deck overlooking the marina.  We were surprised when the most stunning bouquet of flowers arrived from Darren’s mom.  Her card made me cry, in a good way.  We had a super yummy dinner at the Pub and after dinner walked along the water till we found a beach to watch the sun melt into the ocean.  Lucky for us it was a Saturday night and Butchart Gardens had their fireworks display which we were able to watch from the beach and pretend they were going off just for us.

It was such a perfect day.  Today was too beautiful for words.  I am married to the man of my dreams.  He makes me smile and laugh everyday.  He thinks he is lucky to have me, when I know I am the lucky one.  We are so grateful for eachother and I can’t imagine growing old with anyone but him.

Love you millions babe xoox

Favourite Things Friday

What makes me, well …. me ??  From reading my blog you get little snippets into my life.  A glimpse into the things I adore.  Places I love going.  Dreams that I have.  And passions that drive me.

I have decided that I would like to bring a little bit more of this to my blog on a more regular basis.  So starting now I am going to be featuring two new regular posts.  On Tuesdays I am going to showcase some of my travel experiences and photos from places around the world that I have been fortunate enough to visit.  And on Fridays I will be featuring some of my “Favourite Things.”  I like change and I want to mix things up a bit.  Also, I think it will help me buckle down and really work at keeping my blog up-to-date.  When things get hectic (AKA Wedding Season) it is a challenge to keep my blog fresh with new posts, but I want to really push myself to not let my blog fall by the wayside.

So please let me know what you think about these new additions.  I would love to hear from you!

So as you may have noticed it is Saturday.  And well “Favourite Things Friday” should be posted on ummm Friday.  So this late post is going to be blamed on the fabulous impromptu dinner invitation from my mom and Don to celebrate mine and Darren’s first year wedding anniversary (which also happens to be our 10th year anniversary!) at The Mint last night.  Thanks guys!  YUM YUM YUM 🙂

So for my first post I am going to feature two of my favourite Etsy vendors this week:  Red Ruby Rose and Wooden Hive.  Click on the links to view their fabulous products.

Wouldn’t these clutches make the perfect bridesmaid gift ??!  You can even make custom labels which I think it just too cute.  I am obviously a little biased towards the Peony one, but it’s definitely a close tie with the Coral Chrysanthemum.

I thought these vintage silverware garden markers were just adorable.  Think I just might get some for my new veggie garden!

Jonda SpurbeckJuly 12, 2010 - 10:30 pm

i’m so in love with the poppy clutch!!! sigh! 🙂

JohannaJuly 11, 2010 - 3:10 am

Thank you for sharing you favourite things! I love beautiful things and these are wonderful. I can´t wait for more “tim bits” from your life and things you like! You should check out Amy Rubin. I love her cards and calendar. Take care and thanks again!
