On Friday evening I had the pleasure of being invited along to shoot a fabulous session with my friend and fantastic photographer, Michelle Loewen. This is just a quick teaser with more to come soon, I promise!
I have been editing away trying to narrow down the images for this post, and it was HARD. I have a passion and love for flowers, so you can imagine that I wanted to post them all !!
If you missed part one of this fun session you can find it HERE. I had so much fun working with Vanessa and Jenny of Verbena Floral Design on day two of their session. As we had covered the bloom and bucket part of this series in session one, part two was all about the beautiful bouquet and some fun shots of these awesome ladies along the way.
We started the day at their gorgeous studio which is located right on the water just off of Beach Drive. With views like that I have no idea how they get any work done, honestly!
A tip for their brides – they are easily bribed with Diet Coke, deluxe cheesy popcorn, and cupcakes 😉 Ladies after my own heart !
As always, I love hearing your comments so feel free to leave some comment love down below.
[…] Kim Kalyn, one of Victoria’s most gifted photographers, agreed to follow us around over the course of a few days as we prepared for a wedding. Not everyone would be up to that sort of task, and we appreciate her patience and humour in putting up with us and our antics for a couple of days. Wow !! I am so flattered to be once again published in a new product from Design Aglow. I was first published in their Modern Posing Guide for a Bride and Groom back in March, and I was just thrilled to find out that four of my images were chosen to be in this new publication! I have to thank the clients whose images were chosen: Haley & Jordan (again!), Lia & Bryan, and Jess & Brandon, for having such fabulous weddings to shoot.
To be featured alongside photographers that I truly admire is such a wonderful honour … just to name a few: Anna Kuperberg, Susan Stripling, Laura Novak, Paul Johnson, Red Leaf Studios, Tanja Lippert, Jessica Johnston, Tinywater Photography, Christa Hoffarth, and Michelle Moore.

that’s so cool!! congratz, you deserve it! 😀
well done Kim, congratulations and very much well deserved.
I spent this morning at the Oak Bay Marina celebrating my mom’s birthday. We gorged ourselves on some seriously mouth watering culinary creations and watched the sun sparkle on the water and the boats bob up and down in the marina. It was perfect.
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love my mom. She is my best friend. I talk to her pretty much everyday – sometimes four, five, six times a day. We like to talk 🙂 We laugh. We share. We grow. We love.
My mom has too many amazing traits and skills to list here, but I will say that above all I believe she was meant to be a mom. I feel tremendously lucky to be born to such an incredible woman.
Almost one year ago my mom walked me down the aisle on my wedding day. It was the most special moment in my life and I couldn’t imagine walking down that aisle with anyone but her.
Please help me wish my amazing mom, Chris, a HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!
Love you millions mom xo

Love you guys lots

Oh I was soooo excited to post this session! Amber happens to love Market Square and so do I. It was the perfect location choice for their session. All the yummy light, colours, floral decor and interesting features all worked in our favour to add a fun flair to these engagement images. Amber described her outfit as having a bohemian / hippie vibe to it. With Market Square being an artsy district of town the style of this session really came together. I love it when my clients have a ‘vision’ for their photos. I believe that it really helps enhance the overall effect of the images. We can run with a certain idea and really dive into the details that would bring this vision to life.
We started our shoot at 9am which is typically a rather quiet time in Market Square. It can become quite the ‘place to be’ later in the summer days, so we wanted to beat the crowd. We succeeded, sort of. There were only two other men there when we started shooting. They were taking pictures as well, but of random things. Apparently Amber and Justin were just so beautiful that they invited themselves along on our little photo venture. They followed us around shooting shots of Amber and Justin over my shoulder and then pictures of me taking pictures of them. Weird. This was funny at first, but became quickly annoying. I put my camera down a couple times and gave them ‘the look’, but that didn’t stop them. We politely asked what they doing, and the one gentleman replied, “shooting images for my private gallery,” which was our cue to leave and FAST. We moved spots and they followed. The one man proceeded to give me “pointers” and critique my set up of the poses and also claimed that I apparently missed a million dollar shot. Sorry guys! My bad. We had had enough of these weirdos so it was time to go. It was one of those things that was creepy and annoying at the time, but we had a good laugh about it afterwards.
I have to say that these images are some of my favourites of the year so far ! I think these two have incredible chemistry and a really FUN energy and I believe that comes through in their photos. So much of capturing the essence and dynamic of a couple involves them feeling perfectly comfortable in front of my camera. Justin and Amber had no problem getting comfortable and easily worked their magic.
Sorry about missing that ‘million dollar shot’ guys. I hope you still love these as much as I do 😉
Thanks Hannalee! I believe it is a pigeon. Good timing for it to fly by 🙂
Awesome images, Kim. I looove the last one. What is that flying above the roof? Looks like a falcon.
These are beautiful. Love the colors!
Thanks for all the lovely comments !!! These two could not be more photogenic 😉
I would have started taking photos of them.
Once again, you manage to make the couple look so natural and beautiful. The light and the colours are perfect as usual. I am so happy that you share your pictures with the world! Best wishes to the lovely couple!

Just lovely! So weird about those guys though… creepy!
The pictures are awesome Kim. Thanks soooo much. I love them, I can’t wait to see the rest! Minus the creepers I’d say it was the perfect day.
